Word#1 / Word #2 You should transpose the words, i.e., write “Word#2 Word#1”.

¶ - Start a new paragraph here (warning: I sometimes write the mirror image of this).

Awk – This is awkward. You might consider rephrasing this.

Cite – You should cite the author you’re paraphrasing or quoting here.

D – This claim needs further defense to be compelling. You are either simply asserting it, or asserting it without a sufficient explanation of why anyone should accept it.

E – This claim needs to be explained more clearly.

G – See general comments I’ve handed out to the entire class. (Sometimes “G1” or “G2”, which means, see the first or second general comment on the general comments sheet I’ve handed out to the class.)

SP – Spelling mistake.

UG – This is ungrammatical. Ask me if you don’t understand why.

WC – Word Choice? (Not necessarily wrong, but not quite right either. At the very least, you should look up the word in a dictionary.)
